Rizwan is currently a UK based lawyer specialising in Employment and Islamic Finance Law. He is also an Associate at Gateway Islamic Advisory, a global Islamic financial consultancy, and is an Affiliate at the Centre for Law and Development at Qatar University, where he advises on Islamic fintech.

Rizwan has previously worked for a number of Islamic financial banks and consultancies. He started his Islamic finance career at European Finance House (now known as Qatar Islamic Bank, UK) before moving to Scottish-based Islamic Finance Council. He has also worked at BMB Islamic and Edbiz Consulting.

Rizwan has produced a number of research studies and analysis for a diverse array of clients including Jersey Finance, Asian Institute of Finance, CFA Institute, the State Bank of Pakistan, and others. He has advised on the structuring of Islamic finance products and reviewed contracts, documentation and company reports to ensure compliance with Shari’ah for banks, funds and small businesses. Clients include Dexia bank, F&C Investments, Commerzbank, Allianz, Nasdaq and others.

Rizwan has written articles and commentary on Islamic financial issues for the Islamic Finance Review and the Global Islamic Finance Report. He has delivered lectures and papers on Islamic finance issues at universities such as University of California, Santa Barbara, Georgetown School of Foreign Services, Qatar, and Carnegie Melon, Qatar.
