The firm routinely prepares and reviews contracts, and advises clients on disputes which arise during the ordinary course of business, for example, contractual rights following a breakdown in commercial relations and claims to protect a client’s business and/or obtain compensation for loss caused by the wrongful acts of others. We also handle complex breaches of contract, often involving cross border disputes. We advise on practical remedies to such disputes whether by way of negotiation, litigation or arbitration. Recent work includes structuring and reviewing distribution arrangements and financing. The firm takes a pro-active approach to matters relating to its clients, advising on contractual terms and conditions at pre-agreement stages, highlighting in advance the potential conflict areas. The firm also advises companies in various Public Private Partnership projects undertaken in partnership the Government of Bangladesh. We also represent and advise large foreign corporate on their interests and investments in Bangladesh. Recent works include advising a Chinese Joint Venture Company on execution of a PPP Contract with the Government of Bangladesh for implementation of the largest private water treatment and distribution project in Purbachal, Dhaka. The firm has also advised Cemex Cement on the sale of their Bangladesh assets.
